Present Perfect Tense



Present Perfect Tense

Present Perfect Tense: Present Perfect Tense is used to express an action which has just finished but the result of which exists still now.

Example: I have finished my duty.
He has come back.
His mother has cooked this food.


***Structure-1: Sub+have/has+vpp+ob+extension.

She has passed the exam.
He has learnt the lesson.
I have helped you.
You have done this work.

***have is used with 1st person2nd person and all types of plural numbers and has is used with 3rd person singular number.

I have heard the news.
He has finished his homework.
He has gone to school.

Interrogative Sentence:
*** Structure-2: Have/has+sub+vpp+ob+extension?

Have you got my letter?
Has she come back?
What have you done?
Who has helped you?
How have you got it?

Negative Sentence:

*** Structure-3: Sub+have/has+not+v pp+ob+extension.

I have not done this nasty work.
He has come to meet with you.
We have got our money receipt.

Present Continuous Tense



Present Continuous Tense

***Present Continuous Tense:  Present Continuous Tense expresses an action going on at the time of speaking.


Example: I am doing my work.
                She is reading the book.


***Structure-1: sub+am/is/are+v+ing+ob+extension.

Noted that ‘am’ for  1st person, ‘is’ for 3rd person, ‘are’ for 2nd  person and all sorts of plural numbers.

I am writing a letter.
He is playing cricket.
You are walking alone on the street.
We are waiting for you.
They are disturbing us.
My father is coming here.
Your brother is helping me.


***Negative Sentence:

***Structure-2: sub+am/is/are+not+v+ing+ob+extension.
He is not digging the soil.
She is not eating rice.
You are not reading the book.
We are not coming tonight.
They are not playing football now.

***Interrogative Sentence:
 *** Structure-3: Am/is/are+sub+v+ing+ob+extension?

 What are you doing here?
Is he coming here?
Am I disturbing you?

Simple Present Tense

***Present Tense is again classified into four classes.


       1.      Present  Indefinite  Tense
       2.      Present Continuous Tense
       3.      Present Perfect Tense
       4.      Present Perfect Continuous Tense


Present Indefinite Tense

***Present Indefinite Tense: Present Indefinite Tense shows the action done instantly not of any fixed time. It just narrates the action of the verb.

***Structure-1: sub+v+o+extension.

I read the book.
He does the work sincerely.
You do your work attentively.

***If the subject is 3rd person singular number at the time of making sentence s/es to be added with the main verb. Otherwise no need to use.

Example: He goes to school every day.
                He plays football very well.

When we make an Interrogative Sentence and Negative Sentence we use “do” for 1st and 2nd person singular number and “does” for 3rd person singular number.


***Structure-2: sub + do /does + not + v + obj + extension.  (For negative)

       Structure-3: Do/does +sub + v + obj + extension?  (For interrogative)


Example:  We do not go to him anymore.
                  I do not want to talk to him.
                 She does not go to school.

 ***          Do you know me?
                 Does he know you?
                 What do you want?
                 What is your name?
                 How do you go to school?
                 What does he do here?

***To mean near future Present Indefinite Tense is used.

He joins his duty today.

*** To mean universal truth Present Indefinite Tense is used.

The sun rises in the east.

***Sometimes Present Indefinite Tense is used instead of Present Continuous Tense.

Wind blows.

*** To mean habit Present Indefinite Tense is used.

He speaks in English.

***Tense is an important part in English Language without which we cannot fulfill learning English. So we should have strong skill in tense.

***Definition:  Tense denotes the time of a verb. That means it mentions or shows the time of the action when the work is done or performed.

Tense:

Tense is of three types:                

       1.      PRESENT  TENSE
                                                                                    
       2.       PAST  TENSE

       3.      FUTURE  TENSE


***Present Tense: A verb that refers to present time is called Present Tense.

Example: I play football in this field in the afternoon.
                I am doing my duty.
                I have eaten rice.
                I have been waiting for you for two hours.


                        ***Past Tense: A verb that refers to past time is called the Past Tense.

Example: He did the work.
                I was reading the book.
                I had solved the problem before you came here.
                It had been raining since morning.


***Future Tense: A verb that refers to future time is called the Future Tense.

Example: I shall do the work tomorrow.
                You will be doing the sum.
                I shall have done the work before you come back.
                 I shall have been writing the letter for 30 minutes.
