A Book Fair

A book fair is an exhibition of books. It is commonly held on special occasions.  The publishers set up the stalls on the fair premises. Books on literature, science, history, geography, religion etc. are sold in the book fair. The book loving people visit the stalls and buy their favorite books from there. Youngsters like science fictions very much. Girls and women choose books on fashion, beauty, cooking etc. This is a get-together of the people from all walks of life including literatures. This is indeed a festival which is observered with enthusiasm.

Discipline

Discipline means obedience to some rules. Man cannot do whatever he likes to do in the society. If everybody does what he pleases, there would be disorder and chaos in the society. Without discipline lawlessness prevails. No society, organization, institution or even a family can exist without discipline. Discipline implies liberty but not license. The most civilized and prosperous nations are the most disciplined people of the world.  Everything in nature discipline prevails completely. Education without discipline is no education. Discipline is best taught in childhood at home and in educational institutions. Discipline is best played in the playground as well as in the battle field. Discipline in life is something like a touchstone without which no progress and prosperity can be achieved. If the student does not maintain discipline in the class room in future it is not possible for him to be a good citizen of the country. On the other hand, if the government is not disciplined there will be chaos in the country and people will not follow them too. So discipline is mandatory at every step of our lives.  We should bear in mind the value of discipline in every walk of life to build up us as the super human being and civilized citizen of the country.

International Mother Language Day

International Mother Language Day, popularly known as ‘Shaheed Dibas’, is a red letter day in the history of Bangladesh. In 1952, on this day a number of our brave people laid down their lives for the cause of Bangla language. The UNESCO declared 21st February as the day 'International Mother Language Day' showing respect to the martyrs of our language movement. This declaration has turned a national celebration to an International event. Now the whole world observes the 21st February as International Mother Language Day. Every year on this day, people from all walks of life come to the martyr's monument and offer their clothes. Hundreds of people gather with bare-footed in front of The Shaheed Minar with flowers and garlands. The government, different organizations and institutions arrange programmes to celebrate the day. Newspapers publish special supplements on this day. It is our national holiday. School, college, university and offices remain closed on this day. Our national flag is kept hoisted half mast on this day. Actually, this day possesses a great significance for the whole nation as well as the whole world.

Bengali New Year

The celebration of Bengali New Year is also known as” Nababarsha” and “Pohela Baishakh”. The word “Naba” means “New” and the word “Barsha” means “Year”. Thus, “Nababarsha” means “New Year” in Bengali language. It is a part and parcel of culture. It is the first day of Bengali New Year, in the Bengali Calendar. Our people observe this day with great festivities. The Baishakhi Mela which is celebrated is perhaps the largest festival of Bengali culture. People from all walks of life join this festival in joyous mood. Urban people try to keep a while away from their blind mimicry of western culture and tend to be a Bengali at least this day. In the  village people pass the day meeting one another, giving and receiving invitations, enjoying music etc. by local performers and doing many other festive deeds. Business men open new books of account this very day which is known as Halkhata. Thus Bengali New Year comes with great festivity.
